Diversity in the Law (2 credits)
The course examines how the law, particularly civil rights law, conceptualizes and deals with difference. The course will introduce students to interdisciplinary literature on difference, feminist jurisprudence, critical race theory, gay and lesbian legal theory, as well as political theory which addresses issues of diversity. A primary aim of the course is to encourage students to develop a critical perspective of current equal protection doctrine. Recommended but not required: Upper Level Writing.
