Health Law and Policy (2-3 credits)

A study of legal issues relating to health care financing, regulation of health care institutions, and the development of health policy. Topics examined may include private health insurance and its regulation by state and federal law, public health insurance programs, the institutional liability of hospitals and managed care companies for patient injury, hospitals' organizational structure, institutions' obligations to treat patients, antitrust laws, and fraud and abuse laws.
