Amicus Briefs: Theory and Practice (2 credits) 

This course provides an overview of the history and role of the amicus brief in the federal and state judicial systems. Outside speakers on amicus brief issues will be featured including judges, government/ private sector attorneys and advocacy groups. Students will prepare either (a) an amicus brief involving a current case of interest; or (b) a paper on a topic involving contemporary amicus brief issues. Prerequisites: None
