Law of Renewable Energy (3 credits)

This seminar examines the legal framework for development of renewable sources of electric power. Emphasis will be placed on federal and state legal issues surrounding solar, wind, and biomass, as well as other clean energy resources including conservation. The seminar will also address the unique aspects of renewable project purchase contracts, legal barriers the development of renewable power projects, and ways of reforming state and federal law to promote greater innovations in renewable power. The seminar satisfies the Upper Level Writing Requirement and qualifies as a natural resources elective for the Environmental Certificate Program. Prerequisites: None
