With a law faculty involved around the world, Florida State Law offers students a dynamic program in International Law. Add to this the law school’s location in the capital of a state that has become a hub of international trade, and Florida State provides law students opportunities few other law schools can match.

International intellectual property, human rights law and international trade are among the areas of our faculty’s expertise. Faculty members have helped shape legal issues in South Africa, the Czech Republic, Argentina, Vietnam, Uganda, China and Great Britain. They have engaged in coastal management research in Central America for the United Nations, in making medicine available to AIDS victims in South Africa, in the struggle for human rights in South America and in developing a dispute resolution process among Caribbean nations.

Our program includes a wide array of specialized courses that reflect the expertise of the faculty, a variety of externship opportunities – both international and domestic in location, and a certificate program for students interested in international law. In addition, Florida State offers the longest-standing summer program at Oxford sponsored by an American law school. Other international law opportunities include the Center for the Advancement of Human Rights, exchange programs with universities in Australia and the Netherlands and the Journal of Transnational Law & Policy.
