Center Goals

The Public Interest Law Center's goals include:

  • Providing students with practical skills training
  • Representing clients in a professional manner in a variety of forums
  • Providing students with organizational and management skills
  • Instilling a sense of professionalism and an understanding of the code of professional responsibility
  • Teaching students to advocate zealously within the bounds of the law for their clients
  • Broadening the pool of skilled advocates available to represent the needs of children and other under-represented individuals
  • Providing students an opportunity to develop a well-grounded confidence in their skills and abilities in and out of the courtroom
  • Educating those students who will be tomorrow's lawmakers, to awaken in them a sense of compassion and responsibility for the under-represented
