The Public Interest Law Center's goals include:
- Providing students with practical skills training
- Representing clients in a professional manner in a variety of forums
- Providing students with organizational and management skills
- Instilling a sense of professionalism and an understanding of the code of professional responsibility
- Teaching students to advocate zealously within the bounds of the law for their clients
- Broadening the pool of skilled advocates available to represent the needs of children and other under-represented individuals
- Providing students an opportunity to develop a well-grounded confidence in their skills and abilities in and out of the courtroom
- Educating those students who will be tomorrow's lawmakers, to awaken in them a sense of compassion and responsibility for the under-represented
