1000 Friends of Florida

Students externing with 1000 Friends of Florida are supervised by the Legal Director in civil and administrative litigation. Specific extern duties include drafting legal memoranda and motions, conducting discovery, preparing direct and cross examination, and monitoring growth management litigation throughout the State. Students will develop a thorough understanding of Florida's Growth Management Act and the agency rules promulgated pursuant to the Act. Finally, students will gain experience in county and municipal planning.
Prerequisites: Students must have completed Administrative Law or Florida Administrative Practice. Students are not certified for student practice.
Recommended Courses: Evidence, Land Use Planning, Environmental Law; Florida Civil Practice or Civil Pretrial Practice.
Selection Process: Selection is based on student's record, courses, grades, career goals, graduation date, and other externships taken.
