Department of Community Affairs

Students externing with the Florida Department of Community Affairs work under the supervision of the General Counsel. Duties include assisting in the representation of the Department in all aspects of civil and administrative litigation. Students draft legal memoranda, participate in all phases of discovery, draft and argue motions, observe and participate in administrative hearings and civil trials. Students are exposed to county and municipal planning, community redevelopment, environmental land and water management, and coastal planning and management.
Prerequisites: Students must have satisfactorily completed Evidence, and Administrative Law or Florida Administrative Practice. Students must be certified pursuant to the Student Practice Rule.
