What advice would you offer to a new incoming 1L law student?
Any law school you choose to attend, your first semester is going to be about learning things in a very different way. When choosing your law school, pay attention to the atmosphere as your experience can either be invigorating based on the people around you, or miserable because of a hostile and overly competitive atmosphere. The culture of the school you choose plays a large role in your experience, and your experience in law school will reflect on how you view your legal career.

Why did you choose the College of Law?
I attended Florida State as an undergraduate student. While attending FSU, I had the opportunity to fall in love with Tallahassee. Tallahassee has so much to offer to its students and the city has something for everyone. The law school itself is also cost effective, but more importantly, the job placement rating is incredible.

What makes our alumni network special?
The College of Law alumni network is expansive and includes people working in many different fields. Our alumni make themselves available in any way that they can, from volunteering at trial competitions hosted by the law school, to serving as mentors to our students.

What has been your favorite course or who has been your favorite professor since starting your legal education?
Professor Bayern has been one of my favorite professors in law school thus far. Professor Bayern has the unique capability of making the most complex subject relatively simple. I look forward to taking future complex course work with him.

Which College of Law student organization stands out to you and why?
Our Black Law Students Association (BLSA) was very welcoming and helped me make connections from day one. Members of BLSA are encouraging, helpful and a great asset to have in your arsenal. My BLSA mentor has been an indispensable asset. I would not have considered trying out for the mock trial team as a first-year student without her encouragement and support.

Which student services office has been particularly helpful to you during your time at the College of Law? .
The College of Law Placement Office is a great asset. The advisors are personable and they will go out of their way to make themselves available to students. The Placement Office will talk through your career plans with you and make your goals as attainable as possible.
