Why do you want to be an attorney?
I want to be an attorney to give the little people a voice. I was originally on a "pre-med" track in undergrad, but when my family adopted my brother from foster care, my interests changed. Adopting a child from foster care can be challenging in the sense that the children are not cared for nor are they developed in the same way a non-foster child is, but there are also other challenges. For example, adopting was a process that was slow and cumbersome. Going through the process, I was able to see how children are often just looked at as objects and their rights not voiced. Wanting to get involved and see the effect a good lawyer or lobbyist could make, I became a victim advocate. It was in that position where my love for advocacy truly developed. I now want to become an attorney for children or victims.

What has been your favorite course since starting your legal education?
My favorite course since starting my legal education has been property with Professor Cahill. Professor Cahill kept the class very interesting while also allowing the class to use their imaginations and create situations (hypos) that truly allowed us to delve into the information and get the fullest understanding. I also loved the topic of property as I have had my real estate license since I was 18.

Which College of Law student organization stands out to you and why?
The Black Law Students Association stands out to me as they are always having an event, function or fundraiser. Though I am not a member, they never fail to invite me to participate in career fairs, fundraisers or meetings they have. The club itself is very inclusive and does a lot within the community.

What do you recommend to guests visiting Tallahassee?
My favorite Tallahassee recommendation is Jasmine Sushi. Their sushi is very good and very cheap! You are able to get 2 rolls, soup, and salad for $10. Also, this blew my mind when I moved to the area, the Chick Fil A on Tennessee is open until 3 am!

Fun fact about Taylor.
One fun fact about myself is while I enjoy keeping a healthy balance in life, I am an extremely dedicated student. Once I was cleaning a blender and cut my hand/ wrist open. Checking my watch and realizing I had legal writing in ten minutes, I proceeded to go to class and type with my left hand. After class, I went to FSU urgent care with another law student and ended up having to receive a tetanus shot and 3 stitches! I also have a slight shopping addiction.
