First-Year Orientation
Welcome to Florida State Law & the Legal Profession August 18-21, 2009
We are excited that you have chosen to enroll at Florida State Law. In order to prepare you for a successful transition to law school, all entering 1Ls are required to attend our First-Year Orientation at the College of Law on August 18-21, 2009. This mandatory four-day program will serve as an introduction to law school and the legal profession.
Please note that we will not be offering the optional One Week Orientation Program this summer. Instead, we have recently restructured our First-Year Orientation to include many components from that enhanced orientation program.
First-Year Orientation will introduce you to Florida State Law and the legal profession. The program will include a daily classroom component and provide you with information on the academic policies and regulations governing your legal education and the profession. There will also be plenty of opportunities for you to get to know your professors and other law students.
There is a required text you will need to purchase and read prior to attending orientation: Tracey E. George, Suzanna Sherry, What Every Law Student Really Needs to Know: An Introduction to the Study of Law (Aspen Publishers).
