Professor Priester studies constitutional issues in criminal law and procedure, focusing on the relationship between elements of crimes and sentencing provisions. He teaches Criminal Law, Constitutional Criminal Procedure II, and a constitutional criminal procedure seminar.

Before joining the faculty, Professor Priester was a law clerk to Judge Susan H. Black on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and an associate at Ropes & Gray in Washington, DC. He graduated cum laude from Harvard College and summa cum laude from Duke University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of Law & Contemporary Problems.
