Professor Bridgeman's scholarship explores the structure and philosophy of contracts, commercial and bankruptcy law. He has written about contract formalism, the specification of rules of contract law, and the role of planning and practical reasoning in contract law. The James Edmund & Margaret Elizabeth Hennessey Corry Professor, Bridgeman teaches Contracts, Commercial Law, Creditors' Rights, Jurisprudence and Philosophy of Private Law.

Prior to entering law teaching he clerked in Nashville, Tennessee, for the Honorable Gilbert Merritt of the Sixth Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals.
