Professor Craig is nationally recognized for her work in all things water — the Clean Water Act, the connection of fresh water regulation to ocean water quality, marine biodiversity and marine protected areas, property rights in fresh water, and science and water resource protection.

As a result of her Clean Water Act work, including her book The Clean Water Act and the Constitution (Environmental Law Institute 2004), the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences appointed her in 2005 to a two-year committee to assess the effects of that Act’s regulation of the Mississippi River. Professor Craig also is sole author of an environmental law text, Environmental Law in Context (West 2005) and more than 20 law review articles and numerous shorter works. She teaches or has taught Environmental Law, Water Law, a Clean Water Act seminar, Civil Procedure, Ocean and Coastal Law, Administrative Law, Property, and Bioethics and Biotechnology. Before entering law school teaching, she clerked for the Honorable Robert E. Jones at the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon and worked in the Natural Resources Section, General Counsel Division, Oregon Department of Justice.
