Dean Little's career in higher education development began at Mississippi State University's James Worth Bagley College of Engineering, where he served as both the assistant director and director of development. He oversaw the development operation of the largest fund-raising college at Mississippi State, surpassing the college's goal for the State of the Future capital campaign.

Dean Little joined the law school administration in September 2008. He previously served as director of development for the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
