Prior to joining the legal writing faculty at Florida State, Ms. Matthews worked as a senior attorney at the Florida Office of the State Courts Administrator, and before that at the Florida Department of Health.

Immediately after graduating from law school, she clerked for several years years for the Honorable Arthur Lawrence on Florida's First District Court of Appeal. She also worked as a senior attorney in the General Counsel's Office of the Florida Department of Health.
