Law and Law-related Online Databases

The Research Center provides the FSU Law School Community access to an assortment of online resources. These include law and law-related databases that are relevant for either legal or interdisciplinary research. Some databases are only available to Law School faculty, students and staff. Other databases may be available only from wireless and wired computers located within the College of Law building complex. Other resources may be available with the assistance of a librarian. To access unrestricted resources from off campus, users will need to access the EZ-Proxy Server.

ABA Administrative Procedure Database Archive

This site was designed to facilitate the exchange of information about federal and state administrative law among legislators, lawyers, hearing officers, judges, and citizens. While much of the original material is now available from other sources, the ABA Administrative Procedure Database Archive provides access to resources not readily available elsewhere.

ABA Child Law Practice

For those advocating for children and youth, this monthly periodical provides information on legal issues affecting children. It provides the latest case law and legislative developments, litigation strategies, and interviews with experts in the field. Librarian assistance required.

Access World News

Facilitates access to primary source information from regional, national and international newspapers and newswires, periodicals, business journals and government documents.

AudioCaseFiles

AudioCaseFiles contains downloadable audio files of court opinions and podcasts from law professors and law students. To register: go to www.audiocasefiles.com and click "Sign Up For An Account." Input your student information and law school provided email address.

Adrworld.com

Adrworld.com covers arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution information. It offers full-text access to the latest developments, state and federal legislation and regulations, court opinions, rules and policy documents. Librarian assistance required.

Access UN

An index to United Nations documents and publications from 1946 to the present. Articles appearing in U.N. periodicals are individually indexed.

American State Papers, 1789-1838

Primary source material on many aspects of early American history from 1789 to 1838 can be accessed from this database. Approximately two-thirds of the publications cover legislative and executive documents from the first 14 Congresses (1789-1817), whereas the remaining third chronologically overlap with the Serial Set from 1817-1838.

Berkeley Electronic Press

A full text database providing access to journals in economics, business, marketing, engineering, biological sciences, political science, current affairs, and law. Coverage begins in 1996.

BNA All

A resource of over 90 titles covering legal and regulatory developments in business and government. Many of these resources have an email update service for FSU law faculty and students. Available via wireless and wired connections located within the College of Law building complex.

CCH Health & Human Resources Research Network

CCH's full-text library including publications on Human Resources, Health Care, Labor and Employment, and Environmental Compliance.

CCH Internet Tax Research Network

Providing in-depth reports on current events, CQ Researcher addresses a wide range of topics beginning with 1991. Page-image (pdf) versions of reports are available from January 1996.

Early American Imprints, Series 1: Evans 1639-1800

Digital collection based on Charles Evans’ bibliography, this database offers access to a early American publications on wide ranging topics from abolitionists, agriculture and the Revolutionary War to foreign affairs and philosophy.

Early American Imprints, Series 2: Shaw-Shoemaker, 1801-1819

This digital collection offers access to many state papers and early government materials as well as books, pamphlets, broadsides and other imprints.

Economics Research Network

This specialized research network facilitates distribution of abstracts and forthcoming papers in the area of economics. It is a division of the Social Science Research Network.

Eighteenth Century Collections Online

Online collection contains English-language legal titles covering the development of law in the British Empire between 1701 and 1800. Topics include acts, criminal and international law, appellants' cases, and more.

Energy Mosaic

Energy Mosaic covers federal laws and regulations, FERC regulatory compliance documents, a rich and deep library of Energy Law firm memos, and searchable FERC federal court proceedings.

Environmental Law Reporter

Provides access to daily updates and analysis of environmental cases, statutes, regulations, and policy guidelines. State, national, and international issues are covered. Librarian assistance required.

EPA Shadow Law

Covering 28 years of the Environmental Protections Agency and federal enforcement and compliance information, this full text database contains more than 21,000 EPA documents in four databases (Administrative Law, Policy and Guidance, Consent Decrees, and Records of Decision). Available only from public computers in the Reference area of the Research Center.

Financial Economics Research Network

This specialized research network facilitates distribution of abstracts and forthcoming papers in the area of financial economics. It is a division of the Social Science Research Network.

Florida Supreme Court Records and Briefs

This file contains opinions issued in Florida Supreme Court cases decided since October 1988 and the briefs filed in those cases. Selected cases decided prior to 1988 are included. Briefs for cases decided without an opinion are not included. New cases are added at the end of each week the Court is in session.

Foreign Law Guide

Provides access to primary and secondary sources of foreign law from 200 jurisdictions. (Available via wireless and wired connections located within the College of Law building complex)

Forrester Research

A full text searchable database of research with a worldwide perspective. Forrester research includes all aspects of technology and the impact that technology and technological change has on doing business. Includes both consumer and producer perspectives. Users can also create individual profiles and have Forrester notify them when new research is added to the database.

Free Treaties Index

Free Treaties Index is a searchable index of treaties from 1783 to the present. Although full-text access is not available, the index is searchable by subject, country, and date.

Global Legal Information Network (GLIN)

The Law Library of Congress offers this database of laws, regulations and other complementary legal sources. Full text documents are available in the official language of the country of origin, while abstracts are in English.

HeinOnline

Provides retrospective access to full text law review articles, Federal Register volumes, treaties and other international agreements, opinions of the U.S. Attorney General, and cases from the United States Supreme Court. Earliest issues accessible date back to the mid-1800s.

HeinOnline Foreign & International Law Resources Database

The database includes in its first release nearly 675 volumes (over 500,000 pages) including International Yearbooks and Periodicals, U.S. Law Digests, International Tribunals/Judicial Decisions, and other significant works related to foreign and international law.

Index to Human Rights Documents

Human Rights Documents is a unique collection of documents produced by over 355 non-governmental human rights organizations (NGO’s) throughout the world in microfiche format (Mif 936). The FSU Research Center has digitized the collection's accompanying index and provided electronic access through the Research Center's web site to facilitate identifying and locating specific items. The index may be searched by organization name, organization number, or by region.

Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals

Provides access to articles from 1985 to the present on international law, comparative law, and municipal laws of countries other than the United States, United Kingdom, and the British Islands.

Index to Legal Periodicals and Books

Index to law articles beginning in 1981, with full text coverage for selected periodicals beginning in 1994.

Index to law articles published between 1918 and 1981.

Provides access to Latin American law on trade and investment. Updated daily. Librarian assistance required.

International Law in Domestic Courts

ILDC brings you a regularly updated repository of domestic cases in international law from over 60 jurisdictions. The cases are selected by local reporters in conjunction with our editorial board and feature expert commentary, full texts of judgments in their original language and translations of key passages of non-English judgments into English.

Internet Law & Regulation

Covers legal and regulatory aspects of electronic business on the Internet. Arranged by topic, it includes commentaries on recent developments, relevant primary legal materials, selected pleadings, motions, and briefs.

As part of the RIA Checkpoint database, this service provides full text English translations of world tax and commercial laws since 1947. After accessing the site, click the drop down box under Practice Area and choose International and then choose RIA Worldwide Tax Law.
