Prior to teaching, Professor Hanson spent eleven years as a career law clerk to two federal judges, the Honorable Monte C. Richardson, U.S. Magistrate Judge, and the Honorable Brian J. Davis, U.S. District Judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. In addition, she spent seven years at the law firm Foley and Lardner, where she specialized in Labor and Employment litigation.

Professor Hanson graduated second in her class from the University of Florida College of Law, where she served on the Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
