• Bar Associations in North America — Search and find local bar associations by state.

• BCG Attorney Search — BCG Attorney Search is one of the largest legal recruiting firms in the United States. Dedicated exclusively to attorney listings, it maintains a job database that matches current openings with your skills and career objectives.

• BYU Intercollegiate Job Bank — The Placement Office exchanges monthly alumni job bulletins with a number of law schools around the country. These bulletins typically include a collection of recent job listings in that school’s geographic location and can be particularly useful if you are targeting a specific location. Please contact the Placement Office to obtain a password and username.

• CareerBuilder.com — One of the most popular job-hunting Web sites on the Net, CareerBuilder.com permits you to search by keyword, industry, salary, location, job category, employment, degree and other criteria.

• CareerJet.com — Employment search engine that offers a free email alert service. 

• The Chronicle of Higher Education —Weekly news and job-information source for college and university faculty members, administrators and students.

• EmplawyerNet.com — With a large legal professional job database, EmplawyerNet provides online job information to lawyers, law students and paralegals.

• Federal Public Defender —Here you will find vacancy announcements for positions in Federal Public Defender Offices, Federal Community Defender Offices, and other select positions related to the Criminal Justice Act

• Monster.com — Another hugely popular job-hunting Web site, at Monster.com you can search hundreds of thousands of jobs, build and post your resume and access thousands of pages of career info and advice. Monster.com also offers company research information, career advice, scholarship searches, international jobs and information about online degrees.

• Mylawjob.com — Mylawjob.com offers a job database of almost 3,000 legal jobs.

• National Association for Law Placement, Inc.® (NALP) —Job Notices for Legal Career Services, Recruitment, Professional Development, and Related Positions.

• Non-Traditional Careers Report —Published every two weeks, the Report publishes real positions for J.D.s in non-law firm settings. Each week, the Web site features positions in business, education, government, the judiciary, legal publishing, policy, law libraries and public interest. • PeopleFirst — State of Florida job site. Here you can look for state government jobs located throughout Florida.

• The Public Service Law Network (PSLawnet) — An online clearinghouse for law students and lawyers to connect with public interest opportunities and information on public interest careers. Registered users may search the database, flag and store opportunities for later viewing, receive e-mail alerts with newly posted opportunities, and apply directly for opportunities on PSLawNet.

• Simplylawjobs.com — Simplylawjobs.com maintains an employment database of more than 10,000 legal jobs in the United Kingdom and other countries.

• Special Counsel —Special Counsel places attorneys, contracts administrators, document review specialists, and legal support personnel on a temporary, temporary-to-direct hire, and direct hire basis into law firms and corporate legal departments.

JD Advisor

As part of our continuing efforts to assist our graduates seeking employment, the Florida State University College of Law Placement Office recently added attorney Christine Guard to the Placement Office staff as JD Advisor. She is available to assist you with any aspect of your job search. She is available to meet in person at the Placement Office if you are currently in Tallahassee or by telephone at 850.644.4495. Ms. Guard serves as an assistant attorney general at the Criminal Appeals Division of the Florida Office of the Attorney General. While with the Attorney General’s Office, she developed and assisted in the implementation of the Tallahassee Criminal Appeals Bureau’s intern program to help law student gain experience in appellate work. A 1999 graduate of Tulane Law School, she began her career as an assistant public defender in the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. After working in private practice, she joined the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee, eventually becoming the senior lead litigating attorney for the department’s Public Lands Section. During and immediately after law school, she worked for the Mayor’s Office of Environmental Affairs in New Orleans. Christine received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University in 1994.
