Co-Curricular Opportunities

Co-curricular organizations provide students a wealth of ways to earn credit for "hands-on" legal activities. The mock trial and moot court programs prepare students to be trial and appellate advocates, and three student-run scholarly journals give students additional opportunity to hone their research and writing skills. The journals include the Florida State University Law Review, the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law and the Journal of Transnational Law & Policy. Each of our journals has been rated high on “impact factor” by Washington and Lee University.

Our outstanding Mock Trial and Moot Court teams are regionally and nationally competitive, frequently bringing home first-place victories. These organizations promote excellence in written and oral advocacy and enable students to receive academic credit for their participation. Since 2010, the Moot Court Team has won first place in nine national competitions and in one international competition. In 2012, the Mock Trial Team won first place in the National Criminal Trial Advocacy Competition.

"Moot Court really has been my favorite experience. We get to travel around the country and go to competitions, which is really fun."
