Phi Alpha Delta

A prelaw chapter of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity (PAD) was established at Florida State in the Spring of 1995. The local chapter, comprised of both men and women, provides important and helpful information to prospective law students. Formerly known as the Florida State Prelaw Society, the local chapter is affiliated with the international law fraternity of Phi Alpha Delta, the world's largest legal fraternity. Most law schools have a chapter, and the parent organization will assist PAD prelaw members in their transition to law school by providing names and addresses of the chapter officers at the law school they will attend.

The Florida State Prelaw Chapter has a full schedule of events each semester to familiarize prospective law students with the application process, the LSAT, and the study and practice of law. The chapter provides opportunities to attend a mock first-year law class with an FSU law professor as well as to talk with admission directors and local attorneys, who speak on various types of law practice. The chapter holds an induction ceremony each semester in addition to social and volunteer activities.

The only requirement for admission to the PAD Prelaw Chapter is an interest in going to law school. While membership requires payment of an initiation fee and semester dues, non-members are welcome to attend the weekly meetings. Membership allows students to take advantage of discounts for LSAT preparation courses and initiation fees in their law school chapter.
