Damon House
The third house relocated to the Village Green was the Damon House, built about 1840 by Tallahassee merchant George Damon. It was originally located at the corner of Duval Street and College Avenue in Tallahassee.
In the 1890s, the house was given to Mary and Alice Damon, who rented rooms to college students. A portion of the house was destroyed by fire in 1892 and was subsequently rebuilt. The house was sold in 1921 to John Guerry, a downtown merchant. The house was sold again in 1964 to Miss Vardi Weale, who opened a popular gift shop, Vardi's, on the first floor.
Tallahassee attorney Harold Lewis purchased the house in 1974 and converted it to a law office. The house became a favorite meeting place for members of the Florida legislature during the 1970s. During session, Senators met for lunch there on Thursdays, while Representatives met on Tuesdays. The house was donated by the City of Tallahassee and is home to the College's Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
