Why did you choose the College of Law?
During my undergraduate career at Florida State University, I had the privilege of interning at the Law Offices of Friedman, Abrahamsen & Cruz. Mr. Tor J. Friedman also serves as the director of FSU Law’s Trial Team and invited me to sit in on one of the team’s practices. Afterward, Mr. Friedman brought his students to dinner and it gave me an opportunity to discuss the College of Law with current 2L and 3L students. An overarching theme of the conversations I had centered on the prestigious faculty, their open-door policies and the student dynamic that made FSU Law feel like a family, not a competition. Every single student was eager to share their admiration for the university and provide meaningful stories that solidified my decision to attend the law school.

Which administrative office and/or professor has been particularly helpful to you during your time at the College of Law?
Professor Rob Atkinson and Professor Mary Ziegler have provided tremendous academic support and mentorship during my time at FSU Law. While both of these professors are extremely accomplished in their fields of study, they have the most down-to-earth and comforting approach to teaching. They take the time to get to know their students individually and seek to provide any assistance they can in furthering their students’ career paths.

Give one fun fact about yourself.
I’ve helped rescue and foster over 500+ dogs with my mother!

Why did you become a student ambassador?
When I was welcomed, it was with open arms. From Dean Kessinger’s hand-written note on my acceptance letter, to Professor Ziegler’s text message informing me that she would be a point of contact, to the enormous amount of student outreach I received when making a simple post in our Facebook page asking for guidance and tips on my 1L courses, Florida State Law has continued to remind me every single day why I made the right choice, the best choice, to attend this law school.

Our community is not something that is just advertised as a family during the admissions process. It is a family. Not only did the staff exemplify this, but also my fellow classmates and mentors. Some of my closest friends at the law school first served as my mentors. The willingness of older students to go out of their way to assist incoming 1Ls is among many of the wonderful characteristics that I would like to share with those considering FSU Law. I believe my 1L experience is unique because it not only involved the hardships of a first semester law student, but it also illustrates the hardships of life. Life happens. The good and the bad. I am lucky enough to a attend a law school where I am not only supported academically through extensive career resources, alumni networks, student organizations and externship programs, but also supported mentally and physically. I believe this, among mentorship, is another key to the success of law students. Florida State Law places an extremely strong emphasis on academics, but the same intensity is given to the well-being of their students.
